  1. What are CPCAB counselling courses? CPCAB (Counselling and Psychotherapy Central Awarding Body) offers nationally regulated qualifications in counselling and supervision. These qualifications are designed to provide the skills, knowledge, and competencies to work ethically and safely in a helping or counselling role.
  2. What is the difference between counselling and helping work? Counselling is a formally contracted relationship between a counsellor and a client, whereas helping work involves using counselling skills in a less formal way. In helping work, the person using the skills is called the “helper,” and the person receiving help is called the “helpee.”
  3. What level are the courses offered? We offer the CPCAB Level 2 Certificate in Counselling Skills and the CPCAB Level 3 Certificate in Counselling Studies.
  4. Who can take these courses? The Level 2 course is for those starting to train as a professional counsellor, those wanting to learn counselling skills for other professional or helping roles, or those aiming for personal development. The Level 3 course is for individuals who already have counselling skills and wish to further develop their understanding of counselling practice.
  5. What qualifications will I receive after completing the courses? You will receive a nationally recognised qualification awarded by CPCAB, a regulated awarding body in the field of counselling and psychotherapy.
  6. What is the duration of each course? Both the Level 2 and Level 3 courses are 31 weeks long.
  7. How many hours of learning are required for the courses? The Level 2 course requires 160 guided learning hours, with a total of 170 hours. The Level 3 course requires 360 guided learning hours, with a total of 370 hours.
  8. How are the courses delivered? Both courses are delivered in-person at our training centre.
  9. What is the cost of the courses?
    • Level 2 Course: £1000
    • Level 3 Course: £1371
  10. Can I pay in installments? Yes, both courses offer payment plans:
    • Level 2: A non-refundable deposit of £225, followed by three monthly installments of £258.
    • Level 3: A non-refundable deposit of £225, followed by three monthly installments of £382. (Monthly payments are available.)
  11. What will I learn in the Level 2 course? The Level 2 Certificate in Counselling Skills will help you learn ethical and safe counselling skills, establish boundaries, and work with empathy and self-awareness. It prepares you to use counselling skills in various professional and helping roles, such as in healthcare, social care, teaching, and advocacy.
  12. Is there an attendance requirement? Yes, there is an 80% attendance expectation for both the Level 2 and Level 3 courses. Regular attendance is vital to successfully complete the coursework and assessments.
  13. What type of assessments will I have? Assessments for both courses include coursework, reflective journals, tutor observations, and peer feedback. You’ll also need to complete a portfolio and a Candidate Learning Record (CLR).
  14. Can I work as a counsellor after completing these courses? The Level 2 course does not qualify you to be a counsellor but gives you the foundation to decide if you want to pursue further training. The Level 3 course helps you develop advanced counselling skills and prepare for further studies or working in helping roles, though it still does not qualify you to work as a counsellor without additional training.
  15. Do I need any prior experience or qualifications to start the courses? For the Level 2 course, no prior experience is needed. However, you must be open to learning and engaging in self-reflection. The Level 3 course assumes you have completed the Level 2 Certificate or have equivalent experience.
  16. Is financial support available? Unfortunately, no financial support is available for this course. All fees must be paid according to the course’s payment plan.
  17. How will I be assessed during the courses? You will be assessed based on your coursework, practical skills demonstrated in role-plays, tutor observations, and peer feedback. You must meet the required criteria for each learning outcome to be awarded the qualification.
